The Jubilance was originally written for piano solo to satisfy the final requirement of a counterpoint course in my undergraduate studies. I enjoyed the piece so much that I decided to adapt it for a string orchestra. Inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's Das Wohltemperierte Klavier in style and form, the prelude explores development of a very short single theme through melodic mutations and harmonic modulations. The Jubilance is full of colorful energy. Of interest might also be the orchestrated version of the accompanying fugue The Lament.
