Custom Magic Portraits
by Dosia McKay

Photos are so yesterday. Custom portraits are in! Commission a custom portrait of yourself or a loved one, and I will prepare one of a kind artistic rendition in digital pencil, paint, or mixed media.

I work based on a high resolution photograph with state of the art painter software and an artist tablet to create highly realistic images. I place every stroke individually by hand. The results are organic, free-spirited, and unique.

You may select an ultra realistic portrait in black or color pencil, ink, watercolor, or let me improvise something more abstract and avant-garde with multimedia textures. The prices begin at $350 and depend on complexity.

The portrait comes to you as a Giclee print on Epson museum quality, acid-free base, 100% cotton rag archival paper 18 x 12 inches, signed by me.

About me

I am a graphic artist specializing in modern abstract paintings. I use various media and techniques. I like watercolors, acrylics, markers, pencils, as well as digital paint. I am fascinated by color and texture, freedom and whimsicality, but also by order and classic geometry.

I was born and raised in Poland during the last decades of communism. I was drawn to various art forms since childhood and my formative years were spent studying classical music and flute performance. Early 1990s brought me to the United States and opened my eyes to the possibilities I have never considered before.

I graduated with a degree in Computer Integrated Drafting and Design and for over 10 years have worked as a technical illustrator. My drawings grace hundreds of patents issued to inventors around the United States.

But today I steer away from the mechanical drawings which are driven by precision and trigonometry. Instead I venture out into the world of imagination and abstraction. My visual artwork consists of acrylics, watercolors, and digitally created images.

I create my pieces in a very intuitive and introspective way. I don't like to limit myself to any particular format, technique, or current trends in the world of art. The common denominator to all of my pieces is the capturing of a particular emotion or a singular idea. My abstract paintings tend to resonate with people's imagination and touch them on a personal level when they identify with the emotions portrayed in the paintings. They are personal "epiphanies".
